HOW TO GET A GMAIL ACCOUNT and CONNECT to YOUTUBE

• A Computer or Tablet: Make sure it is already on and connected to the internet.
• Basic Information: The church member’s name, date of birth, and a piece of scratch paper and a pen to write down the new password.
• A Phone Number (Optional but Recommended): Google often asks for a phone number (cell or landline) to prove you are a real person and to help you reset your password if you forget it.

The Google Account is the “key” that opens both Gmail (for email) and YouTube (for subscribing).

1. Go to the Sign-Up Page: Open the internet program (like Chrome, Edge, or Safari) and go to this simple address: account.google.com/signup
2. Click "Create account": If a drop-down menu appears, choose "For my personal use."
3. Enter Name: Type in the member’s First name and Last name. Click Next.
4. Enter Birthday and Gender: Fill in the correct month, day, and year. Click Next.
5. Choose a Gmail Address:
   
   • Google might offer a few simple choices (e.g., johnsmith47@gmail.com). You can click on one of these.
   • OR, if the member wants a specific address (e.g., jsmithchurch@gmail.com), click "Create your own Gmail address" and type it in.
   • Click Next.

1. Create the Password (MOST IMPORTANT STEP):
   
   • The password must be 8 or more letters/numbers and should be something easy for the member to remember, but hard for others to guess (e.g., a pet’s name and a favorite number: Spotty1950).
   • Write the password down immediately on the scratch paper and give it to the member.
   • Enter the password twice to confirm. Click Next.

1. Add Recovery Information (If needed):
   
   • Google may ask for a phone number to verify the account. Use the member's phone number if they have one. They will receive a code (via text or phone call) that you must enter to confirm.
   • If you do not have a number, look for the word "Skip" and click it. (If you cannot skip it, you must use a number).

1. Review and Finish: Read the Privacy and Terms and click "I agree."

Since they are now signed into their Google Account, connecting to YouTube is easy!

1. Go to YouTube: In the same internet window, go to youtube.com.
2. Find Our Channel: Type the church's YouTube Channel name - stjohnsuccfullerton - into the search box at the top of the YouTube page and press Enter.
3. Go to the Channel Page: Click on our church's name or logo to see all our videos.
4. Click the Subscribe Button: Look for the red or black box that says "SUBSCRIBE."
   
   • Click it once. It will change color and now say "Subscribed."

1. Click the Bell Icon: Right next to the "Subscribed" button, a little bell icon will appear. Click the bell.
   
   • This is the "Notifications Bell." Select "All" from the little menu that pops up.
   • This makes sure they get an alert every time we post a new sermon or video.

✅ Done! The member is now subscribed and will receive all church updates!
